Advocates Clerk: Full time or part time maximum term position up to 6 months Senior Advocates Clerk: Full time or part time ongoing position Salary range : $89,029 - $104,924 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model About the roles VLA Chambers is a specialist group of in-house advocates led by Chief Counsel Julia Munster. Our team is made up of barristers and solicitor advocates who are briefed by lawyers from VLA, VALS, Djirra, CLCs and private firms to provide high quality representation and advice to legally aided clients. Chambers advocates also undertake strategic litigation, policy and law reform work and train, support and mentor lawyers across Victoria to develop advocacy and practice skills. The Advocates Clerk role will encompass a range of responsibilities including: Coordinating and processing briefing requests to internal and external advocates. Supporting the day-to-day operations of Chambers and working closely with the Senior Advocates Clerks and Briefing Manager. Managing a central diary and mailbox, coordinating conferences, preparing correspondence and billing between VLA Chambers advocates, legal practitioners and assignments. Assisting with the development and implementation of Chambers' policies and procedures and will ensure all Public Defenders and Advocates adhere to these by providing regular inductions and refreshers. The Senior Advocates Clerk will also support with administrative tasks and assist the Briefing Manager in the management of a small team of Advocates Clerks and an Administrative Assistant, including in the recruitment and coordination of training and in collaboration with the Briefing Manager monitoring staff performance. This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
