Pancreatic cancer is characterised by an extremely dense, stiff and fibrotic tumour-encapsulating microenvironment that drives disease progression and chemoresistance; with standard-of-care chemotherapy further enhancing this tumour-enhancing fibrotic response. Consequently, the development of novel anti-fibrotic treatments to effectively target metastatic pancreatic cancer is . We’re looking for a Research Assistant to be part of our evolving team, either a new graduate with relevant research experience or an experienced Research Assistant with prior knowledge of the monitoring and maintenance of mouse colonies. THE OPPORTUNITY The Research Assistant, Level 1 to 2 is accountable for conducting experiments under supervision within their Research Platform. The position will also assist with lab maintenance and upkeep of the lab supplies, equipment and procedure. The willingness to do animal experimentation including animal drug treatment and surgery (training provided). The willingness to learn and use advanced technology including multiphoton microscopy, intravital imaging and advanced single-cell and subcellular microscopy techniques. High motivation and commitment to achieving scientific goals. Excellent time management and written skills. A high attention to details and ability to carry out high quality work. The ability to work independently after receipt of training and instruction. Ideal candidates will have experience with animal studies, molecular biology, tissue culture, flow cytometry, confocal/multiphoton microscopy, intravital imaging and molecular biology techniques.
