This is a Full Time, Fixed Term position until 30 June 2027. About the Role The Place-based Initiatives Unit contributes to the broader goals of the Department by supporting the implementation of key place-based initiatives in selected communities in Victoria. These initiatives supplement the Department's system-level support to schools with tailored strategies based on local needs. The Place-based Initiatives team works with business units across the department and regional teams to support program implementation and partnerships, aligning opportunities to system-wide school improvement programs. The Senior Project Advisor will play a central role in supporting place-based initiatives through effective program management including strategic planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting. The Senior Project Advisor's key responsibilities are to: Support program management with strategic planning and implementation with a focus on monitoring and reporting to manage risks, realise opportunities and achieve intended program outcomes. Support executive decision-making through governance, including development of meeting agendas, papers and presentations. Support program evaluation in line with the department's evaluation policy, with analysis of department data and procurement of external technical expertise, as required. Represent the place-based initiatives program in a range of forums, and contribute program expertise to related Department policies, programs and initiatives. Identify program improvement opportunities based on data-driven evidence, research and analysis of interstate and Commonwealth government policy and programs. Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating within the department to facilitate program delivery and representing the department with external partners. Develop high-quality written materials providing advice to senior Executives including briefs, speaking notes, presentations, communications and reports. Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork, participating in Branch activities and contributing to a positive team culture. About the Division The School Provision and Establishment Division leads strategic oversight of programs and services that have a strong interface between the Schools and Regional Services Group and the Victorian School Building Authority. The division's key functions include planning to meet Victoria's growing student population, end-to-end support for establishing new schools, meeting the compliance requirements for school registration, and supporting equitable enrolment policies.
