The Opportunity We are seeking to hire a bright and ambitious Personal Injury Lawyer with approximately 6 years’ Post Admission Experience (PAE) to join our defendant insurance practice. While this is a defendant role, we strongly encourage lawyers with Plaintiff experience to apply. We value the perspective and transferable skills you bring and will provide the necessary training to transition your practice to the defence side. You will join a highly experienced Insurance team that acts on panel appointments for key insurers and risk carriers. You will primarily defend claims on behalf of government agencies regarding sensitive and interesting matters, with a focus on general liability, public liability, school-related litigation, and intentional tort claims. Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for defending a diverse range of matters, including: General & Public Liability Defence: Defending claims involving occupier’s liability, caregiver/client relationships, delegable duties of care (head and subcontracts), and vicarious liability. Intentional Torts Defence: Defending claims spanning assault and battery, unlawful detention, invasion of privacy, use of excessive force, defamation, and malicious prosecution. Complex Litigation: Managing defence strategies for matters ranging from slips and trips to fatalities, catastrophic injuries, and psychiatric injury/compensation to relatives’ claims. Dust Diseases: Assisting in the defence of dust diseases claims within a team led by partners recognized as industry experts. Skills and Qualifications Experience: 6 years’ PAE with a solid grounding in Personal Injury law. Both Defendant and Plaintiff backgrounds will be considered. Technical Skills: Strong drafting skills are essential. Academics: An impressive academic record is required.
