Full-time Chef position available in Sydney NSW 2000 Thai Connection is a Thai restaurant located in Sydney CBD, offering authentic Thai cuisine and dine-in service. On behalf of Thai Connection, we are seeking an experienced and reliable Chef to join their kitchen team. The Chef will be responsible for planning and preparing Thai dishes, ensuring food quality and presentation, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting efficient kitchen operations in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Position Responsibilities and Tasks: Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of Thai dishes in accordance with recipes, standards, and service requirements. Prepare, season, and cook food items (including curries, stir-fries, noodles, soups, rice dishes, and grilled items) using appropriate Thai cooking methods. Ensure dishes are prepared and plated to a consistent standard of taste, portion size, quality, and presentation. Assist with menu development (including specials) and recommend adjustments based on seasonal produce and customer demand. Monitor food preparation to ensure required dietary needs and allergen controls are followed. Coordinate timing of orders during service to ensure smooth workflow between kitchen sections. Supervise and support kitchen staff and provide on-the-job training as required. Oversee stock usage, monitor wastage, and assist with ordering and inventory control to maintain appropriate stock levels. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements (including cleaning schedules and temperature controls). Maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs promptly. Liaise with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction. Qualifications and Skills: Diploma in Hospitality Management (or equivalent) or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management. At least 1 year of relevant experience as a chef, preferably with Thai cuisine. Ability to work calmly under pressure and maintain quality and consistency during peak trade. Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe work practices. Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive team attitude. Salary: This is a full-time position with competitive remuneration between $76,000 to $85,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
