ABOUT THE TEAM & BRANCH The Procurement Policy and Systems Branch (PPSB) will drive effective, efficient, economic and ethical procurement across the Australian Government by focusing on providing targeted advice, improving the policy framework, enhancing transparency and implementing systems to support streamlined procurement. The Branch: Supports Commonwealth entities to undertake effective procurements and deliver their objectives through the procurement framework Ensures the Commonwealth Procurement Framework appropriately captures Australia's international government procurement obligations Supports public transparency of grants and procurement information and provides stakeholders with meaningful data to drive behaviour change Drives improved procurement processes, information and reporting through the development of and enhancement of ICT systems and tools Engages with suppliers, state and territory, Commonwealth and International entities to maintain a best practice Commonwealth Procurement Framework The key duties of the position include ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The position is a lead role responsible for driving project initiatives to support the Project Manager and Project Director to deliver whole of Australian Government ICT solutions. The role will be responsible for working with internal business areas, subject matter experts and external ICT professionals to scope, design and implement complex business requirements into technical solutions that supports the Government's achievement of strategic procurement policy objectives. The position is responsible for the identification of policy requirements, business problems, gaps and interdependencies between competing business requirements and directly working with ICT professionals to design and implement innovative human centred ICT processes to provide an enhanced information capability to Government on policy driven initiatives. The Project Officer (Technical) is a multidisciplinary role that requires an ability to interpret emerging government issues, policy and process constrains and WoAG procurement and contract management practises and systems to understand business operating environments and identify opportunities for business optimisation through ICT transformation. The Project Officer (Technical) is a critical and logical thinker, who works as the steward between business areas and ICT professionals to provide advice on opportunities to improve the operating status quo and identify requirements from these opportunities to design ICT solutions that align to the achievement of business objectives and emerging WoAG procurement priorities.
