Cloud Security Engineer (Contract) A large, complex organisation is seeking an experienced Cloud Security Engineer to support the uplift of enterprise cloud and security platforms. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining robust security controls across multiple cloud environments, ensuring alignment with security policies, standards, and best practices. You will work closely with architecture and Cyber Security teams to identify and mitigate cloud-specific risks, contribute to secure solution design, and support the delivery of technology initiatives aligned to the organisation’s cyber strategy and roadmap. Contract details Location: Melbourne CBD Rate: $1,000 – $1,200 per day Working model: Hybrid (3 days onsite) Duration: 6 months contract Key responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain security policies and standards across cloud platforms Stay current with emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices Administer and support Microsoft cloud environments, including M365, Entra ID, and Purview Collaborate with architects and Cyber Security teams to design secure and compliant cloud solutions, ensuring appropriate access controls, encryption, and data protection Work with Cyber Security Program Delivery and Operations teams to deliver new technology solutions aligned to the cyber strategy and roadmap Create and maintain documentation relating to cloud configuration and operational processes Ensure cloud environments comply with relevant security and compliance standards, including vendor security benchmarks and Victorian Protective Data Security Standards (VPDSS) Promote cultural safety by contributing to inclusive environments free from racism and discrimination Key selection criteria Specialist / Technical expertise Proven experience in information security, with a strong focus on cloud security 5 years’ experience working with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID Microsoft Azure administration experience (highly regarded) Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies, major cloud providers, and associated security challenges Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection Hands-on experience with Microsoft security technologies including Data Loss Prevention, Purview Compliance Manager, eDiscovery, Content Search, and Defender across Azure and M365 Exposure to AWS security services such as CloudTrail, Security Hub, and GuardDuty (advantageous) Solid understanding of modern security concepts, including common attack vectors (MITRE ATT&CK), malware, threat intelligence, security analytics, and emerging trends Stakeholder & communication skills Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including senior leaders Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams, vendors, and external partners IF you are interested please do reach out to Sophie Garrison - Practice Lead, Cyber Security - sgarrison@launchrecruitment.com.au or click apply today
