The Role This position plays a lead role in Creative Victoria's First Peoples Unit which leads Creative Victoria's First Peoples policy and program deliverables and ongoing development of Creative Victoria's overall engagement with the Victorian First Peoples' creative sector. This position will lead the delivery of Creative Victoria's First Peoples Plan, including program design and delivery, and the development of Creative Victoria's overall approach to engagement with, and development of, the Victorian First Peoples' creative sector. The Manager, First Peoples will be responsible for developing and maintaining key sector, community and government stakeholder relationships, policy and program design and implementation. Main accountabilities: providing high-level guidance on complex issues, departmental strategy, and operational improvements. leading teams, managing projects, and mentoring staff. contributing to the development and implementation of policies, including drafting departmental briefs and ministerial correspondence. building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. ensuring the smooth functioning of the department by providing timely and accurate information and support to senior leadership. The Team The position of Manager, First Peoples, forms a part of the Office of the Chief Executive within the Creative Victoria Group. The Office of the Chief Executive branch has two units, the First Peoples unit, and the Communications and Engagement unit, and one team, the Executive Office. The branch supports the Chief Executive in leading the Creative Victoria group to efficiently and effectively deliver on the priorities of the Department, Minister and the Victorian Government, including under the Creative Victoria Act 2017 . The branch leads on priorities to enhance self-determination and coordination of First Peoples policies and programs in the creative industries portfolio, and raises the profile of Victoria's creative industries, as well as Creative Victoria's role, key initiatives, investments, programs, and opportunities. About You The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the division. This will involve an extensive knowledge of Victoria's First Peoples cultural and creative sectors, including strong community and sector networks, high level stakeholder and project management skills, and the capacity to use these skills to develop and deliver effective outcomes. Use your effective team management experience to align deliverables to community needs, operating a high functioning service delivery model. Your extensive business/commercial acumen will drive a culture of value add. You will consider economic indicators to inform strategic direction and management organisational risk.
