This is a Science Leader role with Queensland Government based in South Brisbane, QLD, AU Queensland Government Role Seniority - senior More about the Science Leader role at Queensland Government In this position you will lead, manage and direct the activities of the Soil Catchment & Riverine Processes team within the Soil & Catchment Science unit, maintaining close links with internal and external partners, government agencies and research institutions. You will provide timely and high-quality technical and scientific information and policy advice to the Director, Executive Director and the Deputy Director-General within the Science Division and to other senior science and policy managers to address policy, legislative and other issues. In this position you will lead, manage and direct the activities of the Soil Catchment & Riverine Processes team within the Soil & Catchment Science unit, maintaining close links with internal and external partners, government agencies and research institutions. You will provide timely and high-quality technical and scientific information and policy advice to the Director, Executive Director and the Deputy Director-General within the Science Division and to other senior science and policy managers to address policy, legislative and other issues. Alongside your peers in the Soil & Catchment Science unit, Science Division and other agencies, you will provide leading-edge and innovative scientific advice, research, data and analysis for the protection and sustainable management of Queensland's landscapes. Your demonstrated knowledge, experience and expertise in catchment science (including soil and water biogeochemical processes) will be instrumental to enable the Soil Catchment & Riverine Processes team's ability to deliver excellent scientific projects in a timely manner. In this position you will be expected to value-add to evidence-based policy and planning decisions as well as on-ground actions. The research areas of the Soil Catchment & Riverine Processes team focus on: Working on water systems, agriculture and native systems to support government programs and policies on catchment management, including nutrient and sediment management, offsets, carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas emissions. Establishing and assessing the effectiveness of aquatic ecosystem rehabilitation processes and techniques.
