They commercially optimise our power plants’ dispatch and take care of the renewables electricity sales, too. About the Role In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimising the commercial performance of our renewable & storage assets in Australia. You will work across the full value chain—from operational assets to development projects—ensuring that power and certificate revenues are maximised while supporting long-term strategic growth in the National Electricity Market (NEM). Responsibilities Manage and optimise Electricity and Large-scale Generation Certificate (LGC) revenues from RWE’s operational assets and other third-party assets. Actively engage in electricity and environmental-markets trading, including both standard and bespoke structured products. Oversee and refine the spot-bidding strategy for the renewable fleet and the NEM’s first 8-hour BESS, including oversight of relevant Autobidder contracts. Provide clear commercial insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders, including market trends, revenue forecasts, and optimisation strategies. Support the commercial assessment of development projects through market insights and operational assumptions. Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale counterparties and across RWE’s global teams. Confidently present complex market information to a wide range of audiences. Qualifications A degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Computer science or a related discipline. Required Skills Derivative trading experience in the Australian NEM (National Electricity Market), with AFMA accreditation viewed positively. Strong analytical and numerical skills, with experience in financial modelling and commercial evaluation. Familiarity with programming languages (Python, SQL, VBA) is highly regarded. A proactive mindset with the ability to contribute ideas, challenge assumptions and drive improvements. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
