Based at our picturesque and conveniently located St Lucia campus About This Opportunity Join a small, dedicated team as an Archivist to support the preservation and accessibility of UQ’s rich archival heritage. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of university records i.e. appraisal, arrangement, and description, ensuring corporate accountability, business needs, and community expectations are met while actively contributing to digitisation and born-digital record management. Key responsibilities will include: Archival Management and Preservation Execute the full range of archival functions, including appraising, arranging, describing, and rehousing collections of enduring historic value. You will ensure the long-term viability and usefulness of the UQ archives collection through proactive care and conservation, maintaining a safe physical environment. Information Access and Compliance Support the delivery of a range of information services to internal and external clients. You will ensure all access and service provision complies rigorously with established University policies and relevant legislation, including the Public Records Act 2002 and the Right to Information Act 2009. Continuous Improvement and Process Development Actively contribute ideas and provide input towards the continuous improvement of UQ Archives' systems, processes, procedures, policies, and work practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Please note this is primarily an on-campus role. General duties involve moving large items as required and pushing loaded trolleys. Repetitive tasks involve lifting, reaching, and squatting with long periods of standing and walking. About You Degree in archives, records, or information management, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of relevant archival and recordkeeping principles, legislation (e.g., Public Records Act), information standards, policies, management systems, and metadata standards. Well-developed research and analytical skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills. This includes proven experience in delivering high-quality information services to a diverse client base. Proven ability to work independently under general direction and as an effective part of a team. You must demonstrate an organised and methodical approach to tasks, excellent attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, and the capacity to respond effectively to changing priorities. You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
