About the Role The Senior Project Officer is responsible for developing team members to ensure excellent customer service is provided and fosters a continuous improvement culture within the branch. You will be experienced in operating within a Human Resource environment, and pride yourself and the team's achievements with consistently high rates of client satisfaction. You will be responsible for leading project plans, monitoring and reporting on project status, contributing to risk and issue management, establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, participating in and facilitating project meetings, preparation of a range of project documents including business cases, contract administration, financial reporting and project governance support for other investment decisions (e.g. contract variations). The team will help build organisational capability and support the execution of human resources systems, processes, policies and procedures for client groups in alignment with the strategic direction of the department.Work Type This position is a fixed term full time position and will start from 01/01/2026 until 30/06/2027. Attributes Your key capabilities and accountabilities will include: Leading the team to deliver on outcomes Project management, including the implementation of procedures, plans, budgets and briefing materials for senior management and stakeholders Lead project meetings including complex/contractual meetings and follow up of action items Undertake research and analysis, and prepare advice to the Project Manager and/or Executives on project related matters including operational communications and consultation strategies Establish and maintain the project schedules and work breakdown structure including monitoring work against the baseline and reporting on status Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to create mutually beneficial partnerships essential to the success of the project Lead risk and issue management, recommend options and solutions, maintain the risk and issue register and produce reports as required Assist in the development and implementation of new and improved processes to support the delivery of project objectives Flexibility and adaptiveness to shifting priorities including other project site and administration tasks as required. Desirable Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualifications are desired, as is experience in project management or as a human resources business partner. About the Department The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres. About the Division and Branch The People and Workplace Relations (Schools) Division implements strategic workforce initiatives, provides human resource services and strategic human resource policy advice in areas of school employee relations, payroll, recruitment and provision of HR data to assist in the building of a high-quality and diverse workforce. Recruitment, payroll and reporting support is also provided to external clients. People Services (Schools) is seeking a Senior Project Officer to lead the delivery of targeted workforce initiatives, to provide leadership to a team of Project Officers, to deliver on expected project outcomes and leads the implementation and delivery of complex workforce projects.
