About the role We’re seeking a Commercial Analyst to join our Commercial and Risk team, working closely with project, finance, and leadership teams across the BMD Group. This role plays a critical part in supporting the delivery of robust commercial governance, risk management and financial performance insights that underpin our Towards 2032 Strategy. This position would ideally suit someone who has developed a strong commercial foundation within the civil construction or infrastructure sector for example, a Contracts Administrator, Quantity Surveyor, Project Accountant or Commercial Engineer who has gained experience analysing project performance, managing cost controls, and understanding how risk influences delivery outcomes. You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy interpreting data to tell the story behind project performance, identifying patterns and risks, and providing insights that help operational and leadership teams make informed decisions. A solid understanding of construction contracts (such as AS2124 or AS4000), variations, claims, and project cost forecasting will be highly regarded, as will an appreciation for the commercial drivers behind project delivery and margin protection. Based in Brisbane but open to consider those from interstate that are willing to relocate. Key Responsibilities Analyse and interpret project financials, commercial data and risk metrics across business units. Prepare insights and recommendations to support monthly commercial and risk reporting. Support the development and continuous improvement of commercial systems, tools and processes. Assist in project reviews, post-completion assessments and lessons learned analysis. Contribute to the identification and monitoring of enterprise and project-level risks. Provide input into commercial governance frameworks and compliance with BMD Standards. Track and report on commercial performance indicators and team budgets. Participate in project reviews, lessons learned exercises, and other performance assessments. Coordinate the administration of annual reviews of Group risks (excluding HSEQ). Prepare monthly reporting on Risk team costs against budget. Skills and Attributes Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business, finance or engineering, with experience in the construction or civil infrastructure industry. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on financial and risk performance. Familiarity with project cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting processes. Sound understanding of risk management principles within a construction context. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders. Collaborative approach to working with both project delivery and corporate teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), with experience in Jobpac, ERP or CRM systems highly regarded.
