Description Six-month contract supporting the team through a large-scale payroll system transition Enjoy flexible work arrangements, including work-from-home options Apply your payroll and compliance expertise to enhance efficiency and process accuracy We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Consultant to lead and support improvement initiatives, system updates and configuration, payroll and compliance projects, all while providing high-level support across our payroll operations. About the Role As a key member of our Payroll team, you’ll be responsible for optimising payroll processes, ensuring compliance with legislation, leading and supporting improvement initiatives, system updates and payroll projects and supporting fortnightly payroll operations. You’ll act as the subject matter expert on payroll systems, taxation, superannuation, and employment law, while guiding the team through system enhancements and process improvements. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in delivering high-quality, compliant payroll outcomes. Specifically, this will include: Review and analyse payroll compliance matters and review and update procedures and processes as required. Leading and supporting payroll system implementations, upgrades, and integrations with HRIS and finance systems. Support and act as a subject matter expert with payroll related projects including integrations, system configuration and migration. Proactively manage payroll risks and contribute to a strong culture of compliance and safety. Test and support system functionality upgrades and improvements. Supporting end-to-end payroll processing (fortnightly and/or monthly) when required. Review and analyse payroll-related taxes, superannuation, bonuses, and deductions to confirm compliance. Ensuring compliance with employment legislation, awards, and EBAs. Preparing payroll tax, PAYG, STP, and other statutory reporting requirements when required Identifying opportunities for automation and process enhancement. Developing, maintaining, and documenting payroll procedures and policies. Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure data integrity and seamless operations. Support the delivery accurate and timely reporting for STP, Superannuation, WorkCover, and Payroll Tax. About You You’re a detail-oriented payroll professional who combines technical expertise with a continuous improvement mindset. You’re confident navigating complex legislation, comfortable leading change, and known for your accuracy, integrity, and collaborative approach. We also seek: Significant proven payroll experience within Australia demonstrating in-depth knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, and superannuation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong system upgrade and configuration experience. Experience migrating two payroll system to one an advantage. Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities. Experience completing payroll projects and initiatives. Experience interpreting EBAs and awards. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
