Applications are sought from suitably experienced and qualified people to work as a Team Leader in a Reporting Team in Shared Services – Finance Services. This role is responsible for financial reporting and operational management of a team tasked with the provision of financial accounting services to ACT Government Directorates and Agencies. Duties include financial ledger and fixed assets register management, preparation of financial statements, and taxation management, including preparation of monthly BAS and annual FBT returns. WHAT YOU WILL DO Collaboratively work and partner with client Directorates/Agencies and Shared Services stakeholders to develop, implement and monitor best practice finance processes and frameworks across the ACT Public Service. Manage client relationships. Prepare Financial Statements, Business Activity Statements and Fringe Benefits Tax returns; and administer accounting for fixed assets. Play a key role with the resolution of issues with auditors. As a Tax Manager, address complex GST and FBT and other tax issues and manage compliance with the Territory’s Taxation Management Framework. Provide leadership and build team effectiveness. Maintain a current working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards. Provide high level technical accounting skills to address and resolve complex accounting issues related to preparation of financial statements. This will require development of thorough understanding of Directorate/Agency business operations, and nurturing relationships with key Agency finance officers, to support compliant accounting practices. Ongoing development and improvement of financial processes to produce quality and timely financial information. Ensure operation of key controls regarding the accuracy of financial information, fraud prevention and detection. Other duties as required. This position involves direct supervision of up to four staff members. A degree with a major in Accounting or equivalent is highly desirable, as is membership, or progress towards membership, of a professional Australian Accounting Body.
