Our client is a major global energy and infrastructure company with substantial renewable energy generation and battery storage assets across Australia and Europe. They are seeking an experienced PPA and BESS Offtake Manager to lead their power purchase agreement structuring and battery energy storage offtake strategies. This is a strategic commercial role responsible for originating, structuring, and negotiating power purchase agreements (PPAs) for renewable energy projects and battery energy storage system (BESS) offtake arrangements. You will develop innovative commercial structures that maximise value from generation and storage assets whilst meeting customer needs and managing risk. As PPA and BESS Offtake Manager, you will work across the full commercial lifecycle from opportunity identification and customer engagement through to contract negotiation and execution. You will be a key driver of revenue growth and asset optimisation across the renewable energy and storage portfolio. Key Responsibilities PPA Origination & Structuring Originate and develop power purchase agreement opportunities for renewable energy projects including wind, solar, and hybrid assets Structure innovative PPA solutions for corporate, industrial, and retail customers Develop commercial terms including pricing structures, volume commitments, and risk allocation Design PPA structures that balance customer requirements with project economics and risk management Analyse customer energy profiles, consumption patterns, and procurement objectives Create compelling value propositions and commercial proposals for prospective PPA customers BESS Offtake Strategy & Commercial Development Develop and execute battery energy storage offtake strategies across the BESS portfolio Structure commercial arrangements for BESS including capacity contracts, tolling agreements, and revenue share models Identify and pursue offtake opportunities with retailers, traders, and large energy users Develop innovative BESS commercial structures that optimise value across multiple revenue streams Analyse BESS revenue potential including energy arbitrage, FCAS, network services, and capacity provision Structure risk-sharing arrangements and performance guarantees for BESS offtakes Contract Negotiation & Execution Lead commercial negotiations with corporate customers, retailers, and trading counterparties Negotiate complex PPA and BESS offtake agreements including pricing, volume, and risk terms Coordinate with legal teams on contract documentation and risk mitigation Manage due diligence processes and credit assessment of counterparties Drive contracts through internal approvals and governance processes Ensure commercial agreements align with project financing requirements and investment returns Market Analysis & Pricing Conduct market analysis of electricity prices, renewable energy trends, and storage market dynamics Develop pricing strategies for PPAs and BESS offtakes based on market forecasts and risk assessment Analyse competitive landscape including peer PPA structures and market pricing Monitor regulatory developments affecting renewable energy and storage offtake markets Assess basis risk, volume risk, and price risk in commercial structures Provide commercial insights to support project development and investment decisions Customer & Stakeholder Management Build and maintain relationships with corporate customers, C&I energy buyers, and procurement teams Engage with retailers, traders, and wholesale market participants on offtake opportunities Understand customer energy strategies, sustainability objectives, and procurement preferences Provide thought leadership on renewable energy procurement and storage solutions Represent the company at industry events, customer forums, and market consultations Collaborate with sales, marketing, and customer teams on customer engagement strategies Portfolio Optimisation & Revenue Management Optimise commercial strategies across renewable generation and storage asset portfolios Balance contracted and merchant exposure to maximise portfolio value Analyse portfolio revenue performance and identify optimisation opportunities Coordinate with trading teams on merchant exposure and hedging strategies Support asset performance management and commercial performance reporting Identify opportunities for contract restructuring and portfolio rebalancing Project Development Support Provide commercial input to renewable energy and storage project development Assess offtake options and revenue potential for greenfield projects Support project financing processes with offtake term sheets and revenue models Coordinate with development, engineering, and finance teams on commercial structuring Conduct feasibility analysis and commercial due diligence for new investments Develop revenue forecasts and financial models to support investment decisions Internal Collaboration Partner with trading teams on merchant risk management and hedging strategies Collaborate with legal teams on contract drafting, negotiation, and risk management Work with finance teams on revenue recognition, credit management, and financial reporting Coordinate with asset operations on performance obligations and dispatch coordination Support risk management teams on commercial risk assessment and mitigation Provide market intelligence to inform business strategy and asset optimisation Essential Requirements Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related discipline 7-10 years of experience in energy markets, renewable energy commercialisation, or power trading Proven track record structuring and negotiating PPAs or energy offtake agreements Experience with battery storage commercial structures or energy trading highly valued Strong understanding of wholesale electricity markets and renewable energy economics (NEM, European markets) Demonstrated success in commercial negotiations and deal closure Commercial & Structuring Skills: Strong commercial acumen with ability to structure complex energy agreements Experience developing innovative commercial structures and risk-sharing arrangements Understanding of PPA pricing methodologies, risk allocation, and contract terms Knowledge of BESS revenue streams including energy arbitrage, FCAS, and capacity contracts Ability to analyse customer requirements and develop tailored commercial solutions Strong financial modelling skills for revenue forecasting and economic analysis Market & Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of wholesale electricity markets, contract markets, and pricing dynamics Knowledge of renewable energy technologies including wind, solar, and hybrid projects Understanding of battery storage operations, revenue optimisation, and market participation Awareness of corporate renewable energy procurement trends and sustainability drivers Familiarity with project finance structures and offtake requirements Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting renewable energy and storage Negotiation & Deal-Making: Proven
