Senior Tax & Statutory Accountant (16-Month Fixed Term Contract) Sydney Northern Beaches/Suburbs | Hybrid Working | Immediate Start Available Smart Tax Search are delighted to be partnering with a household-name retail group in the search for an experienced Senior Tax & Statutory Accountant to join their finance team on a 16-month fixed term contract. About the Role: Reporting to the Tax Manager, you’ll play an integral role in ensuring the Group meets its Australian and New Zealand tax and statutory compliance obligations. It’s a hands-on position that offers real scope — combining compliance, reporting, and project work within a collaborative, people-focused culture. Key responsibilities include: Preparation and review of income tax, FBT and BAS returns Preparation of tax effect accounting and year-end tax provisions Support with statutory reporting under IFRS and liaison with external auditors Preparation of cash flow forecasts and quarterly reporting packs Support with group reporting to the parent entity, including ‘5471’ packages Assistance with SOX compliance testing, process improvements and controls documentation Provide support on GST, payroll tax and withholding tax obligations Respond to ATO enquiries and participate in assurance reviews and audits Collaborate across finance, operations and legal teams on tax-related business initiatives The Successful Candidate: You’re a technically strong and detail-oriented tax professional who enjoys variety and thrives in a fast-paced commercial environment. You’ll bring: CA / CPA qualification (or working towards) Minimum 3 years’ experience in Australian corporate tax Solid experience across corporate tax compliance, tax effect accounting and statutory reporting Exposure to audit processes and external financial reporting Strong Excel skills and an analytical mindset Excellent communication skills with the confidence to partner across teams A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to manage competing priorities Experience within a large or global business environment will be highly regarded.
