Hybrid work environment Permanent/Full-time Role Contribute to the resilience of Australia’s financial system About the team The Financial Markets and Model Risk team sits within the Line 2 Business Risk Oversight function and plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity and effectiveness of the Bank’s financial markets operations and model risk management. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Market and Model Risk , you will work closely with senior stakeholders across Financial Markets, Risk and Compliance, and other key departments. The team provides independent oversight, thematic insights, and challenge to ensure risks are well understood, well managed, and within tolerance. About the Role As a Lead Analyst in the second line risk function, you will play a critical role in strengthening the RBA’s risk management practices, with a particular focus on financial markets and model risk. Your role could include: Providing independent review and challenge of risk assessments at both department and enterprise level. Delivering thematic analysis and insights across the Bank’s issue and incident portfolios. Assessing the health of the control environment to inform investment and prioritisation decisions. Proposing second line challenge and oversight of risk indicators, control effectiveness and performance monitoring. Reviewing and challenging action plans and risk acceptances related to material risks, issues, or incidents. Formulating and communicating risk-based recommendations to the RBA’s leadership Supporting departments in the effective implementation of the Risk and Compliance Management Framework. Contributing to the uplift of risk maturity across financial markets and model risk domains. Manage internal and external relationships, and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders to support and enhance analysis About You You will bring: Demonstrated experience in risk oversight, with a strong understanding of both policy and operational risks most relevant to the RBA’s functions, particularly with regards to financial markets and model risk. Deep knowledge of risk management frameworks, regulatory expectations and control environments. Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured analysis with minimal guidance. A proven ability to constructively challenge and influence stakeholders on risk, control, and compliance matters. Confidence to speak up and engage in constructive dialogue with stakeholders, including raising concerns and articulating well-reasoned positions Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex information, identify patterns and develop actionable recommendations. The ability to communicate risk concepts to less technical stakeholders, such as through briefings, reports, presentations or papers. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities. Familiarity with the RBA’s policies, procedures, and risk frameworks (or a demonstrated ability to quickly acquire this understanding). Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, risk, compliance, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
