Initial contract until 30/11/2026 with possible extension paying $130.42/hr Brisbane City Fringe Location with flexibility to WFH 2 days per week Establish a consistent and equitable baseline for educational built infrastructure Our client, Department of Education, are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to support delivery of the preliminary phases of a strategic initiative to establish a consistent and equitable baseline for educational infrastructure across Queensland state schools. This significant project aims to define the foundation for a future state-wide framework that ensures all students have equitable access to essential learning environments. The Project Manager will play a central role in coordinating day to day activities of the initiative, supporting consultation activities, managing specialist external consultants and overseeing the development of key deliverables to ensure preliminary outcomes are achieved on time, within scope, and in alignment with governance and assurance requirements. The position reports to the Director, and will work within a small, agile team alongside an AO6 Project Support Officer. The Project Manager will also manage project governance and reporting, coordinate consultant inputs, and coordinate stakeholder communication across the Department. Key Responsibilities 1 - Project Coordination and Delivery Coordinate day-to-day project activities, including scheduling, task allocation, and tracking progress toward key milestones. Support delivery of key preliminary phase outputs Manage project documentation, including plans, schedules, risk registers, and progress reports. Ensure alignment between project deliverables and related Departmental initiatives 2 - Stakeholder Engagement & Consultation Coordinate targeted consultation with key internal stakeholders across the Department, including school leaders and staff. Support the facilitation of workshops and review sessions to validate findings and build consensus around proposed approaches. Ensure consultation outcomes are well-documented and effectively inform project deliverables. 3 – Governance, Reporting and Quality Assurance Prepare and maintain regular project reporting, including progress updates to the Director and governance groups. Support project governance and ensure deliverables are evidence-based, quality-assured, and aligned to departmental expectations. Identify and manage project risks and issues, proposing mitigation strategies as required. 4 - Consultant and Contractor Coordination Support procurement and onboarding of external consultants for specific project components. Manage coordination between internal project team members and consultant deliverables to maintain schedule and quality expectations. Ensure all contracted activities are delivered within approved scope, timeframe, and budget. Key Requirements Demonstrated infrastructure project management experience in a government or complex organisational environment (education or otherwise), ideally within infrastructure services, planning, architecture, or policy development. Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary projects involving multiple stakeholders and concurrent workstreams. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver within set timeframes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing project documentation, reports, and correspondence. Sound understanding of project governance, project management principles and tools, stakeholder engagement, and delivery methodologies. Qualifications in project management, or a related discipline (desirable).
