Victoria Police Forensic Services Department Business Services Group Security Services Unit (VPS-2) Security Services Officer Ongoing role available About the role: This is a rostered 24/7 shift work position – shift allowances apply. The purpose of the Security Services Unit is to ensure the Forensic Services Centre is a safe and secure workplace through the provision of a range of Security services, including Fire Alarm monitoring, CCTV monitoring, reception duties and switchboard duties. The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the Security of the Centre by monitoring CCTV, Alarm systems & plant alarms. As the successful applicant, some of your duties will include: Perform a range of security functions ie. monitoring of CCTV, alarms and foot patrols Ensure enforcement of security policy, preparing reports regarding security and systems alarms, saving data and providing verbal briefings to management regarding breaches and opportunities for improvement. Perform routine reception and switchboard duties. Regularly review local procedures, policies and user manuals to ensure currency. Provide training and knowledge sharing across all members of the team to ensure all are multi-skilled. Skills & Experience As the successful applicant, you will have: Demonstrated ability to monitor security and fire alarm systems. Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Ability to work both alone and in a team environment with minimal supervision. Good administrative skills and ability specifically in the field of records maintenance, reporting and management, with an emphasis on quality and accuracy. Proven office administration skills with experience in basic office software packages. An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs. Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the Command/Department. A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct and the Organisational Values. Requirements and relevant information: This is a rostered 24/7 shift work position and will include weekends and public holidays. Position is located at 31 Forensic Drive Macleod, Victoria. Ongoing VPS-2 level position available The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening. The successful candidate will be required to provide a DNA sample (buccal swab) for use in laboratory quality control procedures (elimination purposes only).
