About You You must be: of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent a high-achieving individual already studying or intending to study (degree level) an undergraduate or postgraduate initial teacher education qualification in 2026 committed to teaching in a Queensland state school upon graduation for a minimum service period (based on the duration of the scholarship supported 'study period'). Why apply? The Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarship will provide financial assistance towards study and other expenses during your study period. The Department of Education Queensland will guarantee permanent teacher employment upon completion of study, provided you meet all application requirements for teacher employment with the department.
