Reporting to the Head of Compliance and once removed from the CRO, you will play a crucial role in leading a dynamic compliance function to success. This is an opportunity to develop and support a fantastic team of individuals, ensuring that all day-to-day compliance activities are effectively managed as well helping the Head of Compliance and executive team drive strategic change and uplift. Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of 4 compliance professionals, ensuring the smooth operation of the compliance function. Develop and implement strategies to enhance compliance frameworks and capabilities within the organisation. Provide strategic insights and guidance to the business, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Oversee policy compliance and core obligations registers ensuring adherence to compliance standards across all business units. Collaborate with risk teams to ensure an aligned and unified approach. Drive cultural change and transformation within the compliance function, emphasising value-add and continuous improvement. Build the brand of compliance. Stay updated on regulatory changes relevant to the financial services industry and ensure timely implementation of necessary compliance measures. Work closely with line 1 counterparts and internal stakeholder to foster a culture of compliance awareness and accountability. Streamline the breach reporting process across the business. Use data and the ability apply critical thinking to translate complex data into actionable insights. Skills and Experience Proven experience in a senior compliance role within the banking, financial services, insurance or professional services sectors. Strong technical knowledge of compliance frameworks, principles, and the Australian regulatory landscape. Strong working knowledge of breach reporting (RG78) and compliance obligations. Experience in leading and developing teams, fostering a high-performance culture. Experience working with risk systems with an ability to manipulate Data to draw trends and insights. Curious mindset with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to work up to board and committee level. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-performance environment. Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of driving change in a complex business. Law background or previous experience as a lawyer preferred but not essential.
