The Role: We are seeking a Career Development Advisor to work within our Diversion and prevention Team at Outcare. The successful applicant will assist individuals' who have a history of incarcerations or contact with the justice system by providing career guidance and practical support to become Job ready. They will be responsible for facilitating workshops and 1:1 career guidance session for individuals within the metro prisons and/or community, building relationships with stakeholders and empowering clients to successfully reintegrate into the society. This will involve the following: Create, coordinate, maintain and facilitate structured career guidance group workshops and one to one guidance sessions for participants within prison or community. Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and the general community to ensure a positive image for the program and Outcare is maintained. Utilise principals of recovery orientated practice, support and assist clients to develop skills. Provide career guidance, mentoring, training information, and encouragement to clients to achieve agreed to goals as detailed in their career action plan. Educate, encourage, and support clients to engage with support networks. Support clients to identify short and long-term life and career goals. Collaborate with clients to create a personalised career portfolio. Effectively managing interface with the Jobs and Skills Network (JSC) to accurately report, record and process participant information. About you Essential Certificate IV in Career Development Previous experience working as a career advisor Complete administrative and compliance tasks within the required time-frames Ability to work in a range of environments, including prisons Experience working successfully with clients from low-socio economic and disadvantaged groups as well as clients with a history of offending and re-offending. Previous knowledge of barriers facing Aboriginal people in metropolitan Perth.
