We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs (EASN) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. Jilbup Primary School (PS) is situated in Hammond Park and is a new school which opened in 2024. At Jilbup PS, we offer a diverse teaching and learning program for students in Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6), including a Specialised Learning Program (SLP) for Students with Autism. The Program supports the individual needs of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) from K-6. The program targets students who do not have an intellectual disability with a focus on year level academic engagement and achievement, organisational skills, social cognition development, positive peer relationships and emotional self-regulation. All EASN at Jilbup PS may be asked to work with in our SLP - Autism or as a mainstream Education Assistant. We are ideally looking for flexibility and applicants who are willing to work in different contexts within the school. The Role Suitable applicants will ideally be empathetic, caring, flexible and use initiative to assist with the modification and maintenance of the learning environment. As an EASN suitable applicants should possess a high level of interpersonal skills, provide feedback on education and therapy programs. In the role of an EASN you should be able to support students and classes across a wide range of curriculum areas and year levels within the school. It is important that the suitable applicants ideally have a positive attitude and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change, showing initiative and flexibility to produce the best opportunities for students. The suitable applicants will assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional, and physical skills. Evidence Based Practices for students with ASD are used within the SLP. A knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis is an advantage and data collection is a key component of the SLP. Staff within the Program are committed to ongoing specialised training to ensure they remain informed of current research. Flexibility is the key as the school aims to have staff who can work between both the SLP and Mainstream classrooms with students’ integration. The ability to work independently, and at times without supervision; and the ability to think on your feet and use your initiative to manage challenging behaviours are also highly desirable.
