About the Division The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) leads UOW’s research strategy, driving excellence, integrity, and innovation across the University. Within this portfolio, the School of Graduate Research and Research Culture provides end-to-end support for Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates and serves as the central hub for research ethics, integrity, and compliance. The School ensures the consistent application of ethical and regulatory standards while fostering a culture of responsible research conduct that underpins UOW’s global reputation for research quality and credibility. About the Opportunity As the Ethics Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting UOW’s Human and Animal Research Ethics Committees and promoting a culture of ethical research practice across the University. You will provide high-level administrative and advisory support to ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and national standards. This includes preparing committee documentation, interpreting and applying ethical frameworks, maintaining records and databases, and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders. You will also coordinate training and awareness activities, support researchers in preparing ethics applications, and contribute to clinical trial governance processes. Working collaboratively with academic, technical, and external partners, you’ll help ensure that UOW’s research is conducted responsibly, ethically, and in accordance with best practice. What You’ll Bring Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated experience providing high-level administrative and committee support. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities. Capacity to interpret complex information and provide accurate, strategic advice. Experience or understanding of research ethics, governance, or regulatory compliance. Tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant experience. Experience in a research, higher education, or regulatory environment is desirable.
