The key duties of the position include: The Role The EL 1 Commercial Team Lead (CTL) is part of the Training Force Contracts and Commercial (TFCC) team, designed to strategically consolidate, centralise and manage Commercial and Contract Management functions from within the Training Force Headquarters (TFHQ), to support the delivery of contracted services across Training Force (TF). Reporting to the EL 1 Deputy Director - Contracts and Commercial, the CTL will be expected to lead and manage a small team within an integrated and dispersed workforce. This role is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex strategic procurement and contract management outcomes. The role requires active management of key stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes. The CTL is accountable to lead and manage a small team, and exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve contracting and commercial business outcomes. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team Managed by the Deputy Director, Contracts and Commercial, the TFCC team consists of contract management and contracting and procurement officers who are geographically dispersed in Navy locations across Australia, supporting the optimisation and centralisation of the contract and procurement management function. Our Ideal Candidate You will have demonstrated experience in supporting contract negotiations, administering and/or managing procurement processes and complex contracts, and in understanding and applying procurement principles, legislative and mandatory procurement and contracting policy compliance obligations. You will need to be adept in stakeholder engagement and relationship management, with good interpersonal skills, including negotiation, communication and influencing. You will ideally have experience in managing teams or supervising multiple individuals. You will need to be able to manage complex or difficult issues. You will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve Training Force outcomes. The role requires an agile approach to managing competing priorities and the ability to remain focused on delivering outcomes working with a diverse and dispersed workforce.
