About the role The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure AIDA achieves its strategic and operational goals, aligned with its 2024–27 Strategic Plan. Reporting to the AIDA Board of Directors, the CEO champions AIDA’s vision and values while leading a culturally safe, inclusive, and high-performing organisation. The CEO strengthens AIDA’s voice and influence nationally, advocates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and leadership in medicine, and ensures strong governance, financial sustainability, risk management, and organisational performance. Through advocacy, cultural leadership, and strategic planning, the CEO will build strong relationships with members, government, stakeholders, and the wider community to amplify the voice of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors and medical students. Key Selection Criteria Comprehensive knowledge of the historical, cultural, and health contexts impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. Proven experience as a CEO or senior executive leader within a values-driven or community-based organisation. Strong corporate governance expertise, including accountability to a Board and compliance with legislative frameworks. Demonstrated ability to deliver strategic results and long-term impact aligned to mission and vision. Experience leading high-performing, culturally safe, and inclusive teams. Strong policy and advocacy capability, with demonstrated success influencing government and securing funding. Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
