The Access and Public Engagement Branch is the public face of National Archives of Australia, delivering description, examination, and reference and research services, exhibition, education and lifelong learning programs, publishing, websites, marketing and events nationally. All public engagement programs and services support National Archives' key role of providing an accessible, visible and interpreted national archival collection. Public Programs is responsible for developing and delivering interpreted, engaging and curated public programs aimed at providing access with the national archival collection in the richest possible ways. Public Programs develops and delivers programs onsite, offsite and online through temporary and permanent exhibitions, touring exhibitions, visitor programs, school programs, exhibition tours and digital experiences. The key duties of the position include Under general direction the main duties of the role are to: Deliver engaging activities, tours and education programs in galleries and public spaces to visitors and school groups, including by working within a continual learning framework to better understand the collection, exhibitions, programs and audience. Provide high quality customer service to visitors, including responding to requests in-person, by phone and email and providing accurate information about our exhibitions, programs, amenities and resources. Assist in the development of tours and gallery talks for visitors. Perform administrative duties including collating daily statistics, operating a point of sales system and other administrative duties as directed. Monitor and maintain the presentation of public spaces. Provide evacuation and fire warden duties and First Aid response as required.
