About the Role We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Practice Lead to join The Salvation Army’s ACT Central Intake Service (CIS). In this pivotal leadership role, you will drive practice excellence, quality assurance, and system alignment across all CIS activities. Reporting to the Program Manager and working closely with the NSW/ACT State Manager, you will ensure that service delivery reflects best-practice principles—including the ACT Shared Practice Framework, the Child, Youth and Families Support Program (CYFSP) requirements, and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. As Practice Lead, you will provide expert coaching, embed reflective practice, and lead quality assurance processes to ensure services are trauma-informed, child-safe, culturally responsive, and outcomes-focused. You will also hold direct line management responsibility for Case Workers, supporting the development of a high-performing, ethical, and collaborative team. How you will make an impact Provide expert guidance, coaching, and support to CIS team members to ensure high-quality, consistent case management and client engagement. Embed principles from the ACT Shared Practice Framework and the TSA Model of Care across all aspects of service delivery. Lead the monitoring and review of practice quality, referral processes, and client outcomes to drive improvement. Oversee child safety compliance within the CIS, ensuring alignment with TSA’s Safeguarding Framework and mandatory reporting obligations. Promote a culture of client rights, ethical practice, and safety for children and young people. Support implementation of safeguarding protocols, consent procedures, and risk management strategies. Deliver reflective supervision, practice development sessions, and tailored training to staff. Identify professional development needs and facilitate ongoing capability building. Lead case reviews and reflective practice forums to foster continuous learning. Represent TSA in cross-sector collaborations, including the Joint Operational Working Group and shared governance initiatives. Ensure CIS services align with ACT Government frameworks, including the Shared Practice Framework and CYFSP. Engage with government and community stakeholders to strengthen referral pathways and integrated service responses. Contribute to quality assurance, accreditation, evaluation, and performance monitoring processes. Provide regular reporting and insights to the Program Manager on service outcomes and improvement opportunities. Support alignment with national frameworks and sector reforms across TSA programs. What you will bring Degree in Social Work, Community Development, or a related human services field. Minimum 10 years’ experience in the community sector, with proven leadership in practice development, quality assurance, or service delivery management. Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice, child-safe standards, and contemporary community service frameworks. Demonstrated experience in supporting reflective practice, supervision, and continuous improvement in complex service environments. Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in Practice Leadership, Social Work, or Management. Membership or participation in relevant sector advisory groups or policy forums. Familiarity with ACT Government frameworks, including the Shared Practice Framework and CYFSP standards. Experience contributing to shared governance, cross-sector collaborations, or system reform.
