Position Overview The Apprentice - Metal Fabricator role is an exciting opportunity to embark on a four-year apprenticeship within our Facilities and Fleet Operations team. This position offers structured training in metal fabrication while working towards the Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade. You will assist in the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of fleet vehicles and building infrastructure while adhering to safety procedures and utilising relevant tools and equipment. As part of your apprenticeship, you will participate in a rotating work schedule to gain experience across various service areas. Attendance at TAFE and completion of all learning components is mandatory, ensuring that you receive a comprehensive education in your trade. Key Responsibilities Adhere to Council’s Code of Conduct and all relevant policies and laws. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and demonstrate customer-centric behaviours. Follow safety rules to maintain a safe work environment. Complete mandatory training within specified timeframes. Exemplify Council values through your work and interactions. Candidate Profile We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are eager to kickstart their career in metal fabrication. The ideal candidate will possess an interest in metal fabrication and demonstrate the physical capabilities required for the role. Satisfactory completion of Year 10 Record of School Achievement. Willingness to work both in the workshop and outdoors. Ability to use a variety of tools and machinery essential to the trade. A Class C licence is desirable but not mandatory.
