The Finance and Procurement Branch is responsible for managing all relationships with external Departments, Agencies and organisations and provides strategic financial services across the department. The Financial Operations Section is responsible for ensuring a high-quality financial environment for the department through robust governance and processes and by providing accurate and timely guidance on financial operational matters. The Section delivers accounts payable and receivable, treasury management, financial systems administration, travel and purchase card management. The Department of Veterans' Affairs, Financial Operations Section is looking for an Assistant Director - Financial Systems to lead, manage and provide technical advice on Financial Management Information Systems (E5 QSP Financials, Expense8 and TechnologyOne) and will be an integral part of a team implementing a new Financial Management Information System, TechnologyOne in 2025. The key duties of the position include Maintain current Financial Management Information System E5 QSP Financials System. Coding and running adhoc SQL queries to generate data extracts for Senate Estimates, data analysis, and audit enquiries and develop dashboards and reports for the senior leadership. Preparation and approval of end of month processes. Liaise with Services Australia programmers and FMIS interface contacts on technical matters. Manage the data migration process and master data tidy-up. Assist with the implementation of new Financial Management Information System (TechnologyOne). Management of E5 QSP Financials System, Expense8 and TechnologyOne, including system architecture and configuration changes, user access maintenance, help desk enquiries, train new system users and system testing. Manage the ongoing development, implementation, system performance and quality assurance of the financial management systems and processes used. Provide expertise and technical knowledge in Financial Systems. Lead, supervise and develop a team. Build rapport and maintain internal and external relationships, respond to enquiries, provide assistance and factual advice in a timely manner. Manage prioritisation of own workloads and those of team, ensuring work activities are completed to agreed timeframes and standard, undertake quality assurance reviews of information and work, and ensuring quality customer service and advice.
