This role will embed a culture of continuous improvement in the organisation and will provide leadership, foster and drive local economic development at every opportunity, and demonstrate a commitment for the Shellharbour region, its people and the future. Functionally, the role of the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for overall leadership, direction and accountability for the operations and functions of Council. This key role drives the development and delivery of Council’s strategic plans, policies and governance frameworks, while ensuring sound financial management. Above all, the CEO is responsible for making sure Council meets its obligations to the community and delivers on its commitments. Familiarity of relevant legislation within the Local Government context is preferable, as is knowledge and understanding of the changing social, political, and economic issues facing the local government sector.
