Job Description Position: APS5/APS6 Procurement Officer Location: Canberra, ACT Start Date: As soon as possible Duration: Approx. 12-month contract with potential to extend Hourly Pay Rate: APS5: $57.50 – $61.44 12% superannuation APS6: $63.40 – $71.29 12% superannuation Security Clearance/Requirements: NV1 clearance required at time of application ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking experienced Procurement Officers at the APS5 and APS6 equivalent level to support a large Federal Government department. These roles sit within a specialised division and involve managing a variety of procurement and contract management activities. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of procurement services, ensuring compliance with Commonwealth legislation, policies, and frameworks, while engaging with suppliers and internal stakeholders to achieve value for money outcomes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor and manage procurement activities, providing advice and support for labour hire and other procurement processes Prepare procurement documentation including approvals, evaluation outcomes, and contract arrangements Administer tender documentation through AusTender Manage corporate documentation, records, and mailbox functions Oversee contracts, including extensions, renewals, and close-outs Create and manage supplier contracts and purchase orders within SAP (or similar systems) Maintain contractor access to timesheeting portals and support end-of-month processes Provide advice on compliance with the PGPA Act, Commonwealth Procurement Rules, and related policies Manage invoices and support financial processing requirements Undertake procurement planning, market and supplier analysis, and reporting Contribute to problem-solving of contract-related issues and provide high-level administrative support SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Minimum four years’ experience in government procurement Strong understanding of the PGPA Act and Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) Demonstrated experience in contract management and oversight of public sector procurement activities Proven ability to prepare procurement documentation and evaluation reports Experience with SAP or similar financial/procurement systems Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently with initiative and attention to detail ELIGIBILITY Australian citizenship is required at time of application.
