Overview ADACAS (ACT Disability Aged and Carer Advocacy Service) is a leading individual advocacy service in Canberra and regional NSW. ADACAS provides individual and systemic advocacy to people with disability, older people and their family carers and delivers other project activities consistent with our vision and purpose. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO) to join our leadership team and contribute to our strategic objective through leading financial management and operational excellence. This role blends financial leadership with responsibility for broader operational areas, including IT, facilities, contract management, compliance, asset and risk management. The ideal candidate will bring strong CPA-level financial expertise , alongside proven experience in managing operations, risk management and driving organisational performance within the not-for-profit sector. Role Overview: The Chief Financial and Operations Officer will: Lead and oversee financial strategy, planning, and reporting. Manage organisational operations including IT, facilities, contracts, compliance, and risk management. Ensure payroll and internal processes are accurate, timely, and compliant. Partner with the CEO, leadership team, and Board to strengthen governance, enable sustainability, and ensure resources are managed effectively. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information to stakeholders and regulatory bodies. Lead the annual audit process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Draft Board and Committee reports, providing strategic financial insights. Manage cash flow, budgets, forecasting, and long-term financial planning. Contract & Payroll Management: Oversee and manage contracts, including tracking expenditures and ensuring compliance with terms. Review and reconcile contract-related transactions. Coordinate with the Management Team to ensure proper documentation, reporting and adherence to contractual obligations. Administer and process payroll accurately and in a timely manner. Manage payroll and employee-related records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislation. Support HR processes relating to workforce planning, reporting, and employee benefits. Operations & Compliance Oversee IT systems, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives. Manage high-level facilities and asset planning to ensure safe and cost-effective environments. Drive risk management, business continuity, and compliance frameworks. Ensure internal policies, procedures, and controls are effective and continuously improved. Qualifications, Skills & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CA membership Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial accounting, with a strong focus on not-for-profit organisations (highly regarded) Proven experience in financial audits, contract management and payroll. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. The successful applicant will hold, or be able to obtain, a current National Criminal Record Check.
