Our team The Governance team is a small team in the Organisational Investment Branch of Corporate Division. Together, we are responsible for governance, risk management and fraud control (including compliance), corporate performance, planning and reporting, business continuity, insurance arrangements, internal audit including Secretariat for the Audit and Risk Committee and information and records management. The key duties of the position include The Governance Officer role works to administer various governance frameworks, supports business owners across the entity by providing advice and support to ensure compliance with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act). Relevant experience in governance within the APS will enable you to quickly make a difference to this important role. As part of the Governance team, you will work across general governance activities as required which could include secretariat support for the Audit and Risk Committee, internal audit activities, risk management, Comcover insurance activities business continuity, gifts and benefits, records management, monitoring shared mailboxes and team intranet pages. In this role you will: Assist the Audit and Risk Manager with: secretariat services for the Audit and Risk Committee including coordinating the preparation of meeting papers, briefing material and packs, and meeting room preparations. planning, coordination and facilitation of other relevant governance activities as required. procurement and contract management activities in relation to ARC members and the Internal Audit provider Be the key contact for risk management activities and Comcover insurance queries, including the coordination of the annual insurance questionnaire Coordinate the bi-ennial Comcover Risk Management Benchmarking Survey Assist with the Fraud and Corruption Control Plan and risk assessment, as well as maintaining content for the mandatory e-learning Fraud and Corruption course Maintain the gifts and benefits register and prepare minutes, briefs and advice to facilitate approvals and build awareness as appropriate Liaise with key stakeholders to coordinate and undertake processes for timely reviews and updates for corporate planning and reporting Support projects such as preparation of the Annual Report or Corporate Plan, and work within the Government's Digital Annual Reporting Tool (DART) to enter data and upload information as required Maintain intranet pages for the Governance Team Provide back-up services to the information and records management team. To be successful in the role you will have: Highly developed specialist knowledge and application of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and Rule 2014, Resource Management Guides and governance frameworks Problem solving skills including the ability to deal with, evaluate and communicate unfamiliar, complex and/or sensitive issues Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan, multi-task, prioritise and coordinate input Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to foster effective working relationships within a team and with entity-wide stakeholders The ability to plan for and deliver continuous improvement. Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications Significant experience in providing high-level secretariat support services. Risk management experience in a Commonwealth government setting. Understanding of internal audit management and processes. Significant knowledge and experience within a governance field and a Commonwealth government entity. Knowledge and understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
