About the role Events Management Queensland (EMQ) is seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager - Commercial to lead the commercial operations of the company. This full-time position, based in Bundall, Queensland, will be responsible for driving the commercial success of the business and ensuring the organisation achieves its ambitious growth targets. What you'll be doing Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the business, leading the commercial team to drive revenue and profitability Manage and oversee all commercial operations, including sales, memberships, client relationships, and contract negotiation Analyse market trends and competitor activity to identify new business opportunities and ensure the company remains competitive Collaborate with the executive team to align the commercial strategy with the overall business objectives Provide strong leadership and direction to the commercial team, fostering a high-performance culture Ensure all commercial activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies Monitor and report on key commercial metrics to the executive team What we’re looking for Substantial experience (8 years) in a senior commercial leadership role, preferably within the events or entertainment industry Proven track record of developing and executing successful commercial strategies that have driven revenue and profitability Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and client-facing skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make data-driven decisions Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team Detailed understanding of the events industry, including market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory requirements Tertiary qualification in business, commerce, or a related field What we offer At EMQ, we are committed to providing our employees with a rewarding and fulfilling work environment.
