The Opportunity Due to internal movements, the department is seeking experienced Executive Assistants to support senior executives at the SES Band 1 level. These are pivotal support roles with access to senior decision-makers, visibility across a large and diverse branch, and direct exposure to the core operations of the department’s strategic work. These roles are offered as 12-month non-ongoing contracts, with strong potential for extension or permanency, or as ongoing transfers at level within the APS. You’ll join a collaborative and well-supported Executive Assistant cohort that values structure, shared knowledge, and peer mentoring. The Role This is a trusted role with real influence, requiring strong judgement, initiative, and a high degree of discretion. Key responsibilities include: Managing high-volume calendars and executive inboxes Supporting coordination and budget tracking Drafting, reviewing, and formatting documents and correspondence Managing meeting logistics, travel arrangements, and divisional admin Liaising with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of SES officers Prioritising tasks, managing workflows, and triaging time-sensitive matters Actively contributing to team discussions and process improvements The Ideal Person You’re a capable Executive Assistant with experience in fast-paced, high-stakes settings. You bring professionalism, sound judgement, and a level-headed approach to dynamic workloads. We’re looking for someone who: Communicates confidently and clearly, both written and verbal Is proactive, dependable, and comfortable working independently Maintains excellent attention to detail under pressure Can confidently manage competing priorities and adapt to shifting demands Brings a positive, team-oriented attitude to the workplace Understands the importance of confidentiality and senior-level discretion To be eligible for this position, you must hold or be willing to obtain an NV1 security clearance.
