As Australia's utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) market experiences unprecedented growth, they are seeking an experienced Grid Connection Manager to lead their BESS grid connection strategies and drive their expanding Australian operations. About the Role We are looking for a skilled Grid Connection Manager to oversee the planning, development, and implementation of grid connection projects for utility-scale battery energy storage systems. This role will be responsible for managing complex BESS grid connections, working with network operators, and ensuring successful integration of large-scale energy storage projects into the National Electricity Market. Key Responsibilities Lead grid connection strategies for utility-scale BESS projects across Australia Manage high-voltage grid connection applications and approvals with AEMO, DNSPs, and TNSPs Coordinate complex connection processes for large-scale battery storage facilities Develop and maintain relationships with network operators, regulators, and key industry stakeholders Oversee technical assessments and feasibility studies for BESS grid integration requirements Ensure compliance with Australian energy market regulations, grid codes, and connection standards Collaborate with engineering teams on electrical infrastructure design and BESS integration Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables for multiple concurrent grid connection projects Provide technical expertise on utility-scale battery storage systems and grid integration Support commercial negotiations with network operators and market participants Monitor regulatory developments and market changes affecting BESS grid connections Prepare comprehensive reports and strategic recommendations for senior management About the Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have extensive experience in utility-scale renewable energy projects, grid connections, and the Australian energy market. Strong project management skills and deep understanding of BESS technologies are essential. We are looking for someone who has: Proven experience in utility-scale BESS projects, grid connections, or renewable energy infrastructure Strong understanding of Australian National Electricity Market (NEM) operations and grid connection processes Experience working with AEMO, distribution network service providers (DNSPs), and transmission network service providers (TNSPs) Knowledge of utility-scale battery energy storage systems, power electronics, and grid integration technologies Understanding of energy market operations, frequency control ancillary services (FCAS), and energy arbitrage Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with senior industry participants Project management experience with complex renewable energy and energy storage projects Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or related technical discipline Experience with regulatory approvals and compliance processes for major energy infrastructure Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities for complex technical challenges Ability to work independently and manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously About Our Client Our client is a leading global clean energy infrastructure company with extensive experience in renewable energy development, construction, and operations.
