About the Position The Community Development team is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organisined individual to join the Events Team as an Events Officer, on a fixed term – full time basis for a period of 6 months. In this role, you will support the coordination, promotion, and evaluation of community events and functions, with the aim of encouraging community engagement and participation. You will also assist in developing, preparing, and implementing marketing and communication strategies to effectively connect with the community. About You: You're a highly organised and motivated team player with a passion for bringing communities together through engaging events and initiatives. You thrive in dynamic environments, have a flair for marketing and communications, and are committed to delivering high-quality outcomes that reflect the City's values and strategic goals. You will also be responsible for but not limited to the following. Assist to coordinate, deliver and promote community events and functions, which aim to maximise community participation and partnerships, in accordance with the City's Strategic Community Plan. Supervise events casual staff and volunteers as required in the absence of the Coordinator Events and provide on the job training as necessary. Sound knowledge of the budgeting process and assist to track costs within their associated program areas and comply with the City's procurement practices. Assist the Community Development service unit to annually review and enhance City events/functions to maximise community participation. Assist to identify and secure external funding opportunities. Assist with the administration and promotion of the City’s Community Events Grants. Assist Coordinator Arts and Events to research, prepare and present key documentation in relation to community events and civic functions. Maintain knowledge of contemporary practices, identifying best practice approaches where possible, in delivering cultural community events and functions with a focus on community development. Assist Manager Community Development with local government welfare support and evacuation arrangements in consultation with the Department of Communities following a significant local emergency.
