About the role Join a forward-thinking team driving the future of sustainable transport. As the Program/Project Manager – Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of a high-impact project deploying kerbside EV charging infrastructure across regional and rural NSW. This role is pivotal in supporting our corporate strategy and Pillar 3’s strategic programs. You’ll oversee all project phases—from planning and procurement to installation and operational launch—while managing internal teams, contractors, and key stakeholders including local councils and regulatory bodies. You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with industry standards, managing budgets and schedules, and delivering safe, efficient, and effective project outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of EV infrastructure and make a tangible impact on regional communities. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint and is a 12 month fixed term contract. About You You are a strategic thinker and experienced project leader with a passion for innovation and sustainability. You thrive in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and bring a strong commercial mindset to infrastructure delivery. Your ability to lead diverse teams, manage risk, and drive performance ensures successful outcomes in dynamic settings. About your skills Strong project management skills with a proven ability to deliver on time and on budget Expertise in commercial contract management and risk mitigation Skilled in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing contractors Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Strong leadership, negotiation, and influencing capabilities Adaptability and a results-driven approach to achieving business goals Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management or equivalent experience White Card – Workcover Induction for Construction Work Current Driver’s Licence Asset and Maintenance Management qualifications Change Management Certification (e.g., Prosci) Project Management Certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) Desired experience Proven experience in EV charging infrastructure projects, including site selection and grid integration Background in transmission, distribution design, or construction Experience working with government agencies, utilities, and private-sector partners Strong contract administration and performance management expertise Deep understanding of forecasting, commercial risk, and project methodologies Demonstrated ability to assess network delivery risks and propose cost-effective solutions For further information please contact Alexei Watson – Senior Commercial Specialist – Electric Vehicles on 0418 569 617.
