Senior Community Engagement Adviser opportunity Approx. $70-80 per hour plus Super dependent on experience Assignment duration is up to 3 months. Immediate start. Melbourne CBD/Hybrid Arrangement About the role Government agency requires an experienced Senior Community Engagement Adviser to join them on a full-time assignment for up to a period of 3-months based in Melbourne CBD. As the Senior Community Engagement Adviser, you will develop and implement strategies and targeted support for landowners, residents, and businesses directly impacted by property acquisition or indirectly through construction related impacts. You will work with community members and businesses to provide information on infrastructure projects and connect individuals to local support services and assistance programs that are appropriate to their circumstances. Key duties Your key tasks and responsibilities will include: Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, tenants, residents, and businesses impacted by construction projects or property acquisition. Manage stakeholder enquiries promptly, attend meetings, address concerns, assess needs, and proactively identify and mitigate risks. Develop and deliver tailored engagement strategies, including meetings, correspondence, briefings, and information sessions to support affected communities. Collaborate with project teams and contractors to design trader-focused marketing initiatives and implement measures that minimise construction impacts on businesses. Partner with internal teams and government departments to resolve property acquisition issues, support milestones, and implement assistance programs. Key Selection Criteria The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, establish and maintain positive relationships with landowners, tenants and business stakeholders in sometimes challenging situations, working respectfully and sensitively with a diverse range of people from varied cultural backgrounds. Demonstrated experience in preparing and implementing communications and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans, preferably on major infrastructure projects, in a transport industry setting, or within government or a public sector organisation, across a complex project and contractor interface. Demonstrated ability to identify reputational, communications and stakeholder relations issues and risks as they emerge and, working collaboratively as part of a wider team, mitigate and/or escalate as required. Highly developed organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to adapt, prioritise and manage competing deadlines under pressure. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to deliver engagement activities such as trader support initiatives, business/community pop-ups and meetings, materials such as fact sheets, correspondence and online content. Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Communications, Community Engagement or a related discipline. Understanding of IAP2 principles and training or certificate in engagement. Experience working in government and/or on complex infrastructure projects. Understanding of trader engagement and/or land acquisition processes as applied to government infrastructure projects would be highly regarded. How to apply?
