Position Title: Communications Advisor Location: Melbourne, VIC Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 super Employment Type: Full-time About the Role We are seeking a Communications Advisor with proven experience in the healthcare, aged care, not-for-profit, or other highly regulated sectors. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting and delivering impactful communications that build trust, inform stakeholders, and strengthen the organisation’s reputation. You’ll work closely with subject matter experts, clinicians, and executives to share compelling stories, manage media relations, and ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across multiple channels. This is a role for someone who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and understands the sensitivities and responsibilities that come with communicating in the health sector. Key Responsibilities Identify, develop, and pitch newsworthy stories that highlight the organisation’s people, programs, and achievements. Manage media inquiries, prepare key messages, and ensure responses reflect sector-specific sensitivities and compliance requirements. Write and distribute media releases, feature articles, speeches, and case studies tailored to healthcare and community audiences. Build strong working relationships with journalists, media outlets, industry bodies, and internal stakeholders. Develop and publish content for internal and external channels, including staff newsletters, websites, and social media. Support crisis and issues management by providing timely, accurate communication advice. Monitor industry media coverage and provide regular reports to leadership. About You Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related discipline. 3 years in a communications, PR, or media role within healthcare, aged care, not-for-profit, or another regulated sector. Strong understanding of health-related communications, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible content. Demonstrated experience managing sensitive or high-profile issues in the public domain. Exceptional writing skills and the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences. Confident building relationships at all levels, from frontline staff to executives. Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
