Senior Manager Business Development & Partnerships Reports To: CEO Location: Remote with weekly face to face team catch up at mutually agreed time and place Employment Type: Part-Time .8 FTE Position Purpose: To drive sustainable revenue growth, strategic partnerships, and new business opportunities that align with ESF’s mission. This role will identify and pursue fundraising, commercial, philanthropic, sponsorship, and grant opportunities, and play a key role in increasing organisational impact and financial sustainability. Key Responsibilities: 1. Strategy and Planning Develop and implement a business development strategy aligned with ESF’s strategic and financial goals. Manages and/or supports the annual planning and budget process relating to funding. Identify new markets, partners, income streams, and growth opportunities. Prepare business cases, proposals, and feasibility assessments for new initiatives. Contribute to annual budget development and revenue forecasting. 2. Partnerships and Relationship Management Strengthens relationships with key stakeholders through building commercial, fundraising or grants accessing capacity. Represent ESF in external meetings and forums to promote collaboration and opportunities. Negotiate partnership and sponsorship agreements. 3. Revenue Development Lead a revenue development think tank Identify, assess, and lead opportunities across: Government and foundation grants Corporate sponsorships and cause-related marketing Philanthropic partnerships and major donors Social enterprise and commercial ventures Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment of revenue activities with programs and brand. 4. Proposal and Grant Management Lead the end-to-end development of high-quality funding submissions, proposals, and tenders. Track funding opportunities and reporting deadlines. Oversee grant acquittals, reporting, and relationship stewardship. 5. Marketing and Communications Assist in crafting compelling cases for support, pitch decks, and donor/sponsor communication materials. Ensure business development activities align with ESF’s brand and messaging. 6. Monitoring and Reporting Track, measure, and report on KPIs related to income growth, pipeline development, and partnership performance. Maintain a database or pipeline tracking system for leads, contacts, and opportunities. Provide regular reports and insights to the CEO and board. Key Selection Criteria: Proven success in business development, partnerships, or revenue generation – ideally in a not-for-profit or values/purpose-driven context. Strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and entrepreneurial mindset. Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills. Demonstrated ability to write high-quality proposals and pitch materials. High-level communication and negotiation skills. Self-starter with initiative, resilience, and results orientation. Understanding of the emergency services, social impact, community, or nonprofit sector. Experience in grant writing or managing philanthropic relationships. Familiarity with blended income models.
