Primary objective Responsible for the ongoing provision of high-quality clinical care to patients at Gove District Hospital, Katherine Hospital or Tennant Creek Hospital. Equal return of service is expected to the training time. Context statement A Rural Generalist Trainee is a Medical Officer employed or regularly performing duties in a rural or remote hospital or community setting who has completed not less than the equivalent of three years full time service in medical practice and who has commenced an AMC accredited vocational training program (usually RACGP or ACRRM Generalist training), but who has not achieved recognised competence to practice independently in this field Key duties and responsibilities 1. Responsible to the Director of Medical Services for the provision of high-quality care to clients of the Gove District Hospital through coordination and facilitation of diagnosis, management and discharge planning. 2. Communicate effectively with all health professionals providing care to the client, and where appropriate, family and other relevant carers. 3. Provide accurate and legible and timely clinical records, including medical reports and discharge summaries as determined by the Director of Medical Services. 4. Participate in on-call, after hours and weekend rosters as determined by the Director of Medical Services or delegate. 5. Participate in continuous medical education, professional development, peer review, research, teaching, quality improvement activities and clinical audits as appropriate. 6. Adhere to Best Work Practice Standards as laid down in the Northern Territory Medical Officers Certified Agreement. 7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces Selection criteria Essential 1. Medical Degree registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or eligible for Conditional Registration. 2. Broad postgraduate medical experience in any or all the following disciplines: paediatrics, general medicine, accident and emergency and general surgery. 3. Accepted as a trainee of the RACGP, RACGP-RG or ACRRM 4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Broad computer skills 5. Able to work in a cross-cultural environment. 6. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
