The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (the Reef Authority) is a Commonwealth non-corporate entity, and a statutory agency established by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act 1975 (Marine Park Act), reporting to the Minister for the Environment and Water. Our objective is the long-term protection, ecologically sustainable use, understanding and enjoyment of the Great Barrier Reef for all Australians and the international community through the care and development of the Marine Park. The Position We are seeking an experienced and dynamic information management officer to join our small team. As part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (the Reef Authority) Information team, you will be responsible for providing a service to both internal and external stakeholders, managing requests, research services and the administration of the Reef Authority information management initiatives, systems and services. The position is required to action multiple requests, prioritising the workload with limited supervision, whilst adhering to the relevant regulatory government requirements and policy frameworks in order to ensure continuity of service on behalf of the Information management services team. You will be able to problem solve, support and assist in the maintenance of the online Reef Authority information management systems, with a focus on continuous improvement, including the support and training of Reef Authority staff with regards to the Reef Authority record and information management services. About You You can plan, review, prioritise and align operational activities to organisational objectives in order to complete tasks on time and to a high standard. You have a sound understanding of relevant statutory, regulatory and policy frameworks and organisational, procedural or policy knowledge. You are an excellent communicator, able to use your communication skills to strengthen working relationships and manage user expectations. You have strong internal and external stakeholder engagement capabilities. You have well-developed written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work individually or in a team environment. You are an effective member of a team, are flexible and versatile, show initiative and develop and maintain positive relationships. You are capable of handling sensitive information and disseminating appropriately. You are professional, polite and supportive when providing advice, training and guidance. The key duties of the position include Provide support in the delivery of information management initiatives, systems and services to internal and external stakeholders. Support the development and implementation of policies and guidelines for improved service delivery with a focus on continuous improvement. Monitor compliance to record keeping and information standards and provide support for adapting to new processes to capitalise on digital capability as it evolves. Accurately classify and manage information of a complex or technical nature, applying relevant record and information management legislation to manage the flow of information. Respond to day-to-day management and operations of the information management services in a timely manner. Provide expert advice to programs and projects throughout the Reef Authority regarding information management systems and services. Provide training and education to broad stakeholder in the utilisation of the information management systems, providing regular support and refresher training to embed new process and practice.
