We are seeking a skilled and motivated Bricklayer to join our construction team working across various residential, commercial, and industrial sites in Sydney. Due to our rapid expansion over the years, JM Formwork Pty Ltd is looking for a qualified and experienced full-time Bricklayer who will be performing the following duties and/or responsibilities: Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications. Confirm measurements and ensure alignment with project layouts and construction codes. Identify materials and design features required for each job Set out the work area using string lines, plumb lines, and levels. Erect scaffolding and ladders where necessary, ensuring all safety protocols are met. Clear and level ground or sub-surfaces to prepare for foundation or wall construction. Accurately mix mortar using hand tools or mechanical mixers to proper consistency and ratios. Apply mortar evenly and efficiently to ensure strong adhesion and proper bond between bricks. Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other types of masonry in courses using hand tools. Build walls, partitions, piers, arches, chimneys, and other structural or decorative elements. Check brick alignment using spirit levels, laser levels, and plumb lines to maintain horizontal and vertical accuracy. Cut bricks and blocks to required sizes using hand tools, brick saws, or angle grinders. Shape bricks for curved or angular sections of walls, arches, or decorative work. Insert reinforcements such as steel bars or mesh where required. Install cavity ties, damp-proof courses, insulation, and other structural elements Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience as a bricklayer (2 years preferred) Construction Induction Card (White Card – required) Sound knowledge of materials, tools, and bricklaying techniques Ability to read and interpret construction plans Strong attention to detail and accuracy Physically fit and capable of manual work Ability to work independently or as part of a team Own tools and transport (preferred) Desirable Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying (or working toward it) Experience working on residential or commercial construction sites Working at Heights or High-Risk Work licenses (if applicable) To be successful in this role you will need to have relevant qualification and experience.
