The key duties of the position include The Role Navy Headquarters is seeking an APS6 Information & Records Management Officer to lead a small team providing a range of business and information support functions for the Office of Chief of Navy (OCN) and Chief of Staff Navy Headquarters (COS NHQ). As a team, you will provide detailed information and records management functions & advice, provide registry functions for OCN correspondence, assist with the management of the NHQ security activities including advice, audits & assurance tasks, contribute to strategic planning & programs and drive innovative change in support of COS NHQ business outcomes. The APS 6 Information & Records Management Officer Navy will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes related to their work. They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of best practices and procedures. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential and the ability to think outside the box to find innovative solutions. Applicants need to demonstrate skills and abilities in relation to some/all of the key duties being: Lead a team by managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes. Provide high-level specialist and technical advice which includes policy interpretation & application, related to records & information management. Manage the implementation & rollout for the Navy wide records management reform in accordance with legislation, Defence policies and procedures. Review, revise, create and implement information and records management policies and procedures to achieve continuous improvement for Navy. Negotiate and influence stakeholders through effective communication, collaboration and coordination to achieve outcomes. Work collaboratively with stakeholders and facilitate working groups across Navy to create a community of practice regarding records management. Have experience managing and controlling security classified documentation and information. About our Team Working to the Director Business Chief of Staff Navy Headquarters (DB COS NHQ), you are part of the executive team that is embedded in a dynamic environment, supporting Navy staff to deliver capability and achieve governance through Navy Outcome 5. You will be part of the COS NHQ Business Team, which currently consists of 11 people who are striving to create business improvement, increase governance & assurance functions, and find innovative ways to update administrative practices to better meet the business need. You are accountable for a small team who have a key focus on processing correspondence for the Office of Chief of Navy (OCN), providing specialist advice & support related to records & Objective management and becoming the centre of expertise for security requirements for Navy Headquarters. Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, have high levels of administrative and organisational abilities and excellent time management skills and a strong background in records management process, policy and assurance. To succeed in this role, applicants will be required to demonstrate: Ability to lead your integrated team with a focus on leadership, mentorship, training and development. Subject matter expert on records & information management activities with a minimum 3 years demonstrated experience. Ability to provide high-level advice related to the interpretation & application of legislation, policy and procedures. Excellent judgement, problem solving skills and initiative. Well-developed oral and written communication skills. Understand how to gather and interpret customer requirements and manage priorities. Ability to prioritise work aligning to the business need; and Ability to handle highly sensitive information in accordance with government security requirements.
