About the role As DroneShield continues to grow its global presence, the System Engineer – Bid Support will play a critical role in shaping technically sound and competitive responses to RFIs, RFTs, and proposals across defence, security, and critical infrastructure markets. Working as part of the Strategic Engagement Team, you will serve as the primary technical partner to the Bid Specialist, supporting the development of compliant, feasible, and compelling technical solutions. You will be responsible for interpreting requirements from global customers, proposing tailored system configurations, and engaging with internal engineering teams to ensure accuracy and alignment with DroneShield’s product capabilities and roadmap. This role requires a technically grounded, highly collaborative engineer with excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of how to translate operational needs into effective system architectures. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Develop technical content for RFIs, RFTs, and proposals, including system overviews, compliance matrices, integration approaches, and performance summaries. Translate customer requirements into proposed system configurations using DroneShield’s suite of hardware and software solutions. Draft or contribute to compliance matrices, integration plans, system diagrams, and narratives as part of tender documentation. Coordinate with Tech Teams to verify feasibility, pricing assumptions, and lead times. Maintain up-to-date technical bid artefacts including solution diagrams, specification sheets, and standard response templates. Represent technical input during bid/no-bid decisions and proposal reviews. Occasionally engage with third-party vendors to gain alignment on specifications and capabilities. Assist with customer briefings, clarification sessions, and industry engagement when required. Qualifications, Experience and Skills 3 years of experience in a systems or pre-sales engineering role in defence, security, or high-tech sectors. Strong working knowledge of government and defence tendering frameworks (e.g. ASDEFCON, ITTs, global defence tender platforms). Experience supporting technical bids or tenders. Proficient in creating clear technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong organisational and project management abilities—able to manage multiple concurrent submissions under tight timeframes. Comfortable collaborating across diverse teams, including technical, commercial, and executive stakeholders. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration platforms such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams. Ability to visualise and document system architectures using tools like Visio, Lucidchart or Draw.io.
