About the Role The Theatre Technician supports patient care in the operating theatre under the guidance of nursing, anaesthetic, and surgical staff. Responsibilities include preparing the theatre environment, transporting and positioning patients, and cleaning and maintaining theatre equipment. Position Objectives: The Theatre Technician plays a vital support role in the perioperative team by: Maintaining, testing, and operating surgical equipment, including orthopaedic tools and operating tables. Managing consignment stock, implants, and surgical instrumentation, ensuring accurate records. Preparing theatres with necessary instruments, equipment, and prostheses. Assisting with patient transport, positioning, and applying plaster, traction, and tourniquets as required. Ensuring theatre cleanliness, adhering to OH&S and infection control standards. Supporting inventory management, collaborating with staff, and participating in training and mentoring. Performing duties within the legal and professional scope, as directed. About You You will need to hold the following accreditation, skills and working rights: Certificate III or higher in Theatre Technician studies (or equivalent training). At least 12 months of relevant experience in a theatre technician role. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and proficiency in setting up medical devices. Physically capable of handling demanding tasks. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work independently and collaboratively under supervision. Desirable · Knowledge of current legislation and best practices regarding patient safety and surgical protocols.
