Role overview As a member of RGA Australia’s underwriting team, this position will be responsible for delivering exceptional underwriting services in compliance with RGA’s internal risk management philosophy and guidelines. Job functions Provide consistent, timely, competitive decisions to exceed client expectations, whilst maintaining compliance with internal risk management guidelines Effectively manage competing priorities and complete ad hoc project work as required Demonstrate positive, pro-active client focus, driving continuous improvement Maintain a thorough understanding of each client company and its method of operation Develop and maintain positive working relationships with underwriters from all client companies in Australia and New Zealand and contribute to industry events, where required Positively contribute to a high performing team Keep abreast of industry trends, legislative changes and product developments pertaining to underwriting Sustain a thorough knowledge of reinsurance and specific RGA treaty practices as they pertain to the management and handling of transfer of risks Qualifications & experience At least 5 years underwriting experience Demonstrated experience working as part of a high performing team Industry recognized qualification and/or accreditation in life insurance preferred Relevant tertiary qualification will be highly regarded Recent experience in URE development/underwriting process improvements/customer transformation project work considered favourable Excellent knowledge of medicine, law, accounting and finance as applied to the evaluation of life insurance risks Skills & competencies Enthusiastic, energetic with high levels of drive for personal and business success Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others Exceptional customer service focus Analytical with demonstrated attention to detail Expert oral and written communication skills, demonstrating an ability to clearly convey concepts and ideas to all levels of management, associates and clients Detailed knowledge of the life insurance industry, reinsurance market, products, practices and relevant insurance laws and their impact on client operations Ability to travel within Australia and New Zealand as required LI-JL2 What you can expect from RGA: Gain valuable knowledge from and experience with diverse, caring colleagues around the world.
